About Us

Background

Transforming Communities Group (TCG) is a community-based organization located in Wakiso, the largest and most populated district in Uganda. TCG is driven by a vision of a culture where communities themselves provide the cradle of support for vulnerable children, meeting immediate needs such as education, health, and food.

My name is Boneventure Brian Kawere, a Ugandan Public Health Specialist. Together with my wife, Justine Kawere-an educationist and mathematics major-we are parents to four wonderful children. Her work with children has inspired our family to share what we have with those who need it most.

We have learned that children who are sick cannot attend school; hungry children find it difficult to understand what is taught; and children who are feeling down or unwell do not perform well academically. That is why we commit a portion of our monthly salaries to help transform our community, beginning with the most vulnerable.

Our Work

Projects in the Community

Four focused initiatives shaping education, health, and community support in Wakiso and beyond.

Project Image Education

Project One: Keeping Children in School

In late 2020, during a walk in our neighborhood, we met an 8 year old boy. In a friendly chat as we walked together, we learned that he had missed school for the entire year. The public school he attended had not rolled out online classes at the hight of the COVID-19 lockdowns, he had no access to television or radio lessons, and when schools finally reopened, his guardian could not afford the basic requirements for him to return.

Project Two: Establishing a Reliable Primary School

As a school teacher, my wife had long dreamed of starting a school that addresses the gaps she has observed over the years. By 2022, it became clear that we needed to act sooner rather than later. Building on the growing impact of Project One, we realized that a high-quality primary school, one that merges the practical, learner-centered delivery style of the Cambridge curriculum with the rich, content-heavy National Curriculum could attract learners from more privileged families whose parents are able to pay.

Project Three: Distant Adoption Partnership (Kamuli Sub-Group)

In our effort to grow sustainably and keep overheads low, Transforming Communities Group (TCG) formalized its work as a community-based organization and began seeking mission-aligned collaborations. Since early 2025, we have worked seamlessly with the Distant Adoption (DA) Program under the Salesians of Don Bosco mission, with generous support from the ADRA Foundation in Poland.

Project Four: Annual Christmas Learners’ Charity Drive

To further our mission of community-based sustainability, we are using Ventures Early Learning Centre as a platform for intrinsic education—helping children learn through values, empathy, and real-life practice. In 2025, we launched the first Annual Christmas Learners’ Charity Drive, one of several programs hosted at the school to foster learners’ internal motivation to care, share, and serve.
